ESSAYS, BOOKS & STUDIES
The relevance of the following SLI-study (Marton—Abramoff—Rosenzweig 2005) below from a Disability
Studies viewpoint, is as follows:
—the parents of the children with language impairment express major concerns regarding their children’s present
and future academic development. Although all of these children received speech–language services, the parents
were concerned that there was little carry over from the therapy sessions to the school and after school settings;
—the classroom teachers did not use any specific strategies with these children because they knew very little
about the special needs of children with communication disorders;
—the data from the questionnaires also indicated very little communication between the parents and the teachers
regarding these children’s social difficulties: in pdf.
